The left gutter on the Inplot editor can be used for various things.

Set Breakpoints for stopping at certain lines during plotting.

Turn it on or off with the Right Click Editor Popup Menu

The Mark All button on the find and replace dialog will show marks in the gutter at every line that it finds the string.
