DNC Multi-Server Option
Multi-Server mode can be turned on from the
App Settings window. Normally, DNC Server has
one Comm port open at a time for one machine.
In Multi-Server mode all comm ports going to all
the machines are on at the same time. This way,
you can upload or download to more than one
machine at a time. You can drip feed to more
than one machine at a time.
You don't need to use this feature if you are
using DNC Server when only connected to one
machine at a time, like with a laptop connected
to one machine, or are using switch boxes to
connect to one machine at a time. Or when you
never communicate with more than one machine
at a time.
Normally, this mode is transparent and
everything works the same way as in Single
mode. Multi-Serve can be configured to any
number of machines.
This feature must be turned on in Main Menu -
Settings - App Settings - Options.
This shows a "Machines" tab on the left along
with the "Files" tab.
The Machines tab shows a list of all the configured
machines and each one is always connected to its
Normally, the operation in Multi-Server mode is
transparent and you never need to look at the
Machines Tab. Everything works like it does in
Single mode, but the Machine list does allow you
to check the status of all the machine
connections. When programs are being sent to
the machines a progress bar shows up on the list.
You can check for serial ports that were not able
to initialize, and duplicate comm ports.
What happens when you have two different
formats for the same machine?
Normally, each machine would have a separate
serial port number, but if you need two format
settings to the same machine comm port then you
can click on the machine to be activated and the
others having the same port will be de-activated.
Note: You need to purchase and activate the standard DNC
Server software before you purchase this.
